Palmweaving

Discover one of the Algarve’s traditional crafts and learn the art of weaving with palm leaves. Guided step by step, you’ll create your own small traditional hand broom — a simple and charming object once found in homes throughout Portugal and a beautiful way to connect with the region’s craft heritage.

Ana Carla Cabrita

Natural de Sagres, Ana Carla Cabrita cresceu com a Empreita, uma arte tradicional algarvia que utiliza a palma, planta nativa do território. Nos seus workshops, partilha esta tradição e convida os participantes a descobrir a criatividade através da palma, criando cestas, vassouras, rosas e muito mais.

 

Originally from Sagres, Ana Carla Cabrita grew up with Empreita, a traditional Algarve craft using palm, a plant native to the region. In her workshops, she shares this tradition and invites participants to discover their creativity through palm, creating baskets, brooms, roses and much more.

Livro Infinitivo 

Neste workshop com Mara Taquelim, vamos explorar a relação entre papel, desenho e narrativa através da construção de um “livro infinito”. A partir de uma estrutura simples em papel e de uma ilustração criada por cada participante, vamos criar a ilusão de um livro que nunca termina, permitindo que a história se desenvolva e regresse ciclicamente ao seu início.

Infinite Book

In this workshop with Mara Taquelim, we explore the relationship between paper, drawing and storytelling through the creation of an “infinite book.” Using a simple paper structure and an illustration created by each participant, we will create the illusion of a book that never ends, allowing the story to unfold and return cyclically to its beginning.

Mara Taquelim

Licenciada em Escultura e mestre em Desenho pela FBAUL, Mara Taquelim lecionou Artes Visuais no ensino público durante vários anos. Em 2022, decidiu dedicar-se inteiramente à criação artística, desenvolvendo desde então a sua prática de forma independente.

 

With a degree in Sculpture and a Master’s in Drawing from FBAUL, Mara Taquelim taught Visual Arts in public education for many years. In 2022, she decided to dedicate herself fully to her artistic practice, developing her work independently ever since.

Conjunto de pequeno-almoço

Passe uma tarde divertida e criativa a explorar o barro com a Vanessa e crie o seu próprio conjunto de pequeno-almoço — prato, chávena e colher — utilizando a técnica de modelação por pressão (pinch technique). Decore as suas peças com cores e carimbos e, depois, a Vanessa irá esmaltá-las e cozê-las; o seu serviço estará pronto para levantar na Teias aproximadamente três semanas mais tarde.

Breackfast Set

Spend a joyful afternoon exploring clay with Vanessa and create your own breakfast set — a plate, cup and spoon — using the pinch technique. Decorate your pieces with colour and stamps, then Vanessa will glaze and fire them; your finished set will be ready to collect from Teias approximately three weeks later.

Vanessa Carrasco

Natural de Lisboa, Vanessa Carrasco descobriu na cerâmica, depois de uma formação em Geografia e Design Gráfico, uma forma profundamente intuitiva de criar com as próprias mãos. Desde que se mudou para o Algarve em 2023, dedica-se cada vez mais à cerâmica e aos workshops, onde partilha com os participantes a alegria de transformar barro em objetos e de descobrir, através deste processo, novas formas de conexão e expressão

 

Originally from Lisbon, Vanessa Carrasco discovered ceramics, after a background in Geography and Graphic Design, as a deeply intuitive way of creating with her hands. Since moving to the Algarve in 2023, she has increasingly dedicated herself to ceramics and workshops, sharing with participants the joy of transforming clay into objects and discovering new forms of connection and expression through the process

Noite de Arte e Vinho

Desfrute de uma noite descontraída e criativa de pintura, vinho e experimentação com a Samantha, que acompanha cada participante de forma próxima e descontraída na mistura de cores e na pintura em acrílico, independentemente da sua experiência. Com a sua abordagem intuitiva e encorajadora, poderá explorar a sua criatividade ao seu próprio ritmo e, no final, levar consigo uma pintura acabada da qual se pode orgulhar.

Art and wine

Enjoy a relaxed and creative evening of painting, wine and experimentation with Samantha, who gently guides each participant through colour mixing and acrylic painting, whatever their level of experience. With her intuitive and encouraging approach, you’ll explore your creativity at your own pace and usually leave with a finished painting you can be genuinely proud of.

Samantha van der Westhuizen

Nascida e criada na África do Sul, Samantha van der Westhuizen tem formação na área da educação e encontrou em Portugal o espaço para se dedicar plenamente à sua paixão pela criação artística. Embora trabalhe também em grande escala, é na pintura sobre tela que encontra a sua expressão, explorando intuitivamente a cor e a textura através do acrílico, do pincel e da espátula.

 

Born and raised in South Africa, Samantha van der Westhuizen has a background in education and found in Portugal the space to fully pursue her passion for creating art. Although she also works on a large scale, canvas painting is where she finds her true expression, intuitively exploring colour and texture through acrylics, brush and palette knife.

Paper Flower

Bring a little piece of the Algarve’s colour home with you and create your own everlasting bougainvillea from paper with Rita. With some materials prepared in advance and guided step by step, you’ll bring the delicate paper petals together to create a beautiful flower that will brighten your home for years to come.

Rita Cosma

Natural de Portimão, Rita Cosma é artista visual, professora de atividades criativas para crianças e fundadora da Recortes de Jardim. Licenciada em Artes Visuais pela Universidade do Algarve, apresentou duas exposições individuais de pintura, em 2022 e 2025, na Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes, em Portimão.

 

Originally from Portimão, Rita Cosma is a visual artist, creative teacher for children and founder of Recortes de Jardim. With a degree in Visual Arts from the University of Algarve, she has presented two solo painting exhibitions, in 2022 and 2025, at Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes in Portimão.

Filipa Carvalho

Filipa Carvalho é artista de gravura, professora de Artes Visuais e arquiteta, desenvolvendo a sua prática no campo das artes visuais. O seu trabalho explora sobretudo a gravura, o desenho e as práticas performativas.

 

Filipa Carvalho is a printmaker, Visual Arts teacher and architect whose practice is rooted in the visual arts. Her work focuses particularly on printmaking, drawing and performance-based practices.

Jaurné van der Westhuizen é artista de aguarelas e live wedding painter, apaixonada pelo movimento da água sobre o papel e pela forma como os pigmentos se misturam e transformam. Nos seus workshops, partilha técnicas práticas de aguarela, ajudando os participantes a ganhar confiança e a descobrir a sua própria relação com este meio.

 

Jaurné van der Westhuizen is a watercolour artist and live wedding painter, fascinated by the movement of water across paper and the way pigments blend and transform. In her workshops, she shares practical watercolour techniques, helping participants gain confidence and discover their own relationship with the medium.
